The 1/2"-13" Lock Nut (Coats 8101039) is a direct-replacement mechanical fastener engineered for the primary pivot joints and cylinder mountings of professional tire changers. It features a heavy-duty steel body and a prevailing-torque nylon insert to resist backing off under constant operational vibrations and mechanical stresses.
Regular maintenance and timely replacement of worn lock nuts are critical to protecting your primary pivots, shafts, and cylinders from structural play, ensuring your machine maintains factory-spec rigid tolerances.
This lock nut is used to secure the Foot Pedal shaft pivot brackets, the Bead Breaker Cylinder rod clevis, and the tilt-back tower pivot shafts of the tire changer.
This universal lock nut is verified to fit the following Coats Rim Clamp® tire changer families:

Always thread nylon-insert lock nuts on by hand for the first 2-3 turns to prevent cross-threading. Never reuse a worn lock nut as the nylon collar deforms upon first installation and loses its vibration-resistant friction grip. Tighten securely to 35–45 ft-lbs of torque on primary hinge pins.
