Update Date: November 2008
Subject: Air Motor Exhaust Valves
Due to a manufacturing issue by our current supplier, we have been experiencing issues with P/N 8181191 exhaust valves. The symptom is a loud “barking” sound. Under deviation, beginning with tire changer serial number 0811109310, we have temporarily begun using a different valve on new units. It requires an extra fitting to connect to the elbow going to the muffler. Required Fitting Temporary Valve For service, the part number for the valve will not change. What you will receive under deviation for the same part number will be the temporary valve and the fitting. This temporary valve and fitting will be shipping for service on Monday, November 10. We will return to the standard valve as soon as the issues with it have been corrected.

Update Date: September 2009
Subject: Air Motor Exhaust Valves 3
The new valve design eliminates the need for the adapters and unions required by the old style valve since the fittings have become a part of the new valve body. On air motor equipped Rim Clamp tire changers (EXCEPT APX models), we have started using a new style exhaust valve. The first production unit was built on September 15th and is S/N 0909101339. NOTE: Replacing the old style valve with the new will eliminate some parts. Replacing the new style valve with the old will mean adding some parts. BE SURE YOU HAVE THE PARTS YOU NEED PRIOR TO SERVICE. New valve connects directly to the air motor. The hose and muffler connect directly to the valve.
This part is positioned in the primary mechanical assemblies or utility configurations of the tire changer.
This universal replacement part is documented and verified to fit the following Coats® equipment models:
