If your vertical slide is slipping or drifting upward during tire mounting, the factory service manual notes that the lock cylinder should be checked for an active locking stroke of 7/16" to 5/8". If the stroke is correct but slippage continues, the vertical lock plate and this 1-5/8" wave washer are likely worn or flattened and should be replaced together to restore full holding power.
