The Retainer Washer, 1".5" Id is a hardened, precision flat or spacer washer designed to support heavy axial rotational loads and prevent friction binding on the main threaded shaft and mounting hubs of professional wheel balancers.

Regular maintenance and timely replacement of worn washers are critical to preventing hub-nut binding on main spindle shafts and keeping wheel mounting assemblies rotating perfectly true.

Subject: APX - Bead Loosener Pivot Pin Retainer Removal

We are no longer using the P/N 8109945 Retainer Washers on the P/N 8185634 B.L. Cylinder Rod Pivot Pin. This allows the pin to “float” up and down with the rod and eliminates a small amount of stress on the rod. We already implemented this running change on other rim clamp models. When we ship the APX, the pin is held in place with a large tie wrap. In the course of normal service, if you encounter APX units in the field that have these retainer washers on the pin, remove and discard both the top and bottom retainer washers. Run a wire brush over the balancer shaft to remove any surface rust or tire lube before sliding the washer on. Apply a micro-thin layer of high-temperature grease on both washer faces.
